• A LUSH Christmas in Crawley

Friday 4th November marked an incredible weekend full of candy floss, fireworks, chats with friends over coffee, lunch in a cosy pub and an incredible evening spent at the Christmas Lush event. Thanks to the lovely Katie Kirk and the Lush PR team I received my first invitation to my favourite bath and body shop on the high-street. To say I was estastic would be an understatement.

As soon as we stepped through the doors, we were greeted with lots of Lush loveliness, a Christmas themed spread laid on by Laura (think mince pies, celebrations, candycane crisps, satsumas and sparkling rose) and her lovely team and of course a festive playlist to help get us all in the Christmas spirit. You would have to be a complete scrooge to not secretly enjoy the early nod to the most wonderful time of the year.

After everyone had mingled, the lovely Laura introduced herself and told us that we would all be given the opportunity to create our very own buche de noel cleanser, Mark was also going to be showing us some Lush cocktails (sadly not the type one can consume) but rest assure the sight of them had us all jumping with joy and gasping at the magnificent sight of all of the glorious colour combinations. This man is a potion master and both Mark and the lovely Lush fairies were so passionate about the brand that you couldn’t help but get excited about their latest collection which is centred around pure natural, self preserving ingredients.

Hayley, who it turned out was an old school friend of mine, was incredibly informative about the Naked Collection and was on hand to answer all of my questions about the new range. I was amazed to discover that by reducing the water content of most of their products, they were in fact preventing bacteria from growing, which in turn removed the need for artificial preservatives and packaging such as plastic pots. This is something that I am very excited about as not only is this great for our environment, but it also means better quality products for our bodies – everyone is a winner.

I had such an amazing night and I can’t believe how quickly it was over, the build up to it had me feeling like a child on Christmas Eve and, just like Christmas itself, the event certainly didn’t disappoint. Moreover, just when I thought my evening couldn’t get any better, we were all presented with a very generous goody bag packed full of Lush treats, which included our very own handmade buche de noel cleanser.

Thank you so much to all of the Crawley Lush team (Laura, Mark and Hayley) and to Katie Kirk for helping to arrange it all. It was an absolute pleasure meeting all of you who attended the event and now I can’t wait for a very Lush Christmas.

Will you be going naked this Christmas?

Tired of walking around in a zombie like state at work? Suffer with Insomnia? Fed up of feeling lethargic? Then here are some tips that I have tried out, which I guarantee will have your head hitting the pillow like sleeping beauty.

    IMG_5442

    • Run yourself a nice warm bath and add some Radox for a nice relaxing soak
    • Cut out caffeine after 5pm
    • Keep a diary or notepad by your bed to help you jot down those last-minute important details
    • Spray some ‘This Work’s lavender spray on your pillow
    • Have a social free hour before bed and read a book instead.

    • Massage some ‘sleepy’ body lotion on from ‘Lush’
    • Invest in some cute PJ’s

If all else fails then consider doing night shifts like your’s truely. I am working 6pm to 6am, now if that doesn’t make me tired, then what will? Do you have any tips for a good night’s sleep?

    Happy Monday

    The Christmas Tag 2016

    Christmas Time.

Today’s ‘Blogmas’ post has a bit of a nostalgic theme to it, as we turn back time and talk about Christmases that have been and gone. After seeing ‘The Christmas Tag’ post over on Paige’s blog, I was inspired to write my own. Apologise in advance for the poor picture quality of some  of the images, but they are over 20 years old a lot of them.

What is your favourite Christmas movie/s?

I have several films that I like to watch over the festive period. However, if I could only choose one, then it would defiantly have to be ‘Home Alone’ starring Macalulay Culkin. My favourite part has got be when he sets lots of traps around the house for Harry and Marv.

    Just a small selection.

Do you open your Christmas presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

As a child, I would wake up really early on Christmas morning and find my stocking at the end of my bed and then me and my Sister would go sit on the end of our parent’s bed and open our stockings together. Afterwards, we would rush downstairs to open the gifts underneath the Christmas tree. Over the last few years, me and my Fiance have started exchanging stockings on Christmas Eve and then we also open presents from extended family after Christmas day.

    My first Christmas.

Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

I have so many wonderful Christmas memories  which include going to visit Santa, looking through the Argos catalogue with my Dad and writing my list to Santa, leaving a mince-pie, a glass of milk and a carrot out for the big guy as well as taking part in the school nativity play as an angel.

That time Santa came to my house.

    Favourite festive food?

Tubs of Quality Street, Marzipan fruits, Christmas Dinner, satsumas and Christmas pudding with Baileys brandy butter. The annual Boxing day buffet tradition is always a firm favourite as well!

    Favourite festive gift?

I have been so lucky over the years, but I really loved my Barbie house and horse as a child, Furby, a cooker and in recent years Lush, my Pandora bracelet and my little Toby Bear (Westie) This year the best gift will be a Christmas spent at home with my fiancé Al, my family and Toby.

    Lovely Lush.

    Favourite Christmas scent?

Hmm this is a lot harder than I thought, Satsumas, Christmas dinner and Christmas Lush products.

Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

We usually watch a Christmas film and in recent years me and Al open our stockings. Me and Mum also have a glass of Baileys.

    What tops your tree?

This year we have a pretty gold star that tops our tree. Over the year’s we have also had a Christmas angel and Father Christmas.

As a child what was the one crazy/extravagant gift that you asked for but never received? I always used to ask for a mobile car, but due to being a tall child it wasn’t really very practical.

What’s the best part about Christmas for you?

Quality time with family, eating good food and just relaxing after the festive build up.

    Christmas In Retail

So you are probably wondering why I was late publishing yesterday’s post, unfortunately the daily schedule had caught up with me. It turns out that working in retail at Christmas is both exciting and fun, as well as a little tiring.

    image

Today I thought I would tell you about what I have been up to. So, after purchasing some quirky, cute and absolutely stunning wrapping paper essentials from my local Paperchase on my lunch break, I finally started the task of actually wrapping the gifts that I have bought my loved ones. A task which I must confess, I have avoided due to my terrible wrapping skills.

    image
Hopefully the gorgeous wrapping paper will distract them from my poor wrapping.

I have also had some Christmas themed pampering evenings filled with Lush bath bombs, red and glitter nail polishes, Christmas nibbles and Christmas music of course.

    image
    I love Christmas nails!

Tonight I also enjoyed snuggling up on the sofa with my little polar bear Toby. I will be blogging about my ‘Top 10 Christmas jumpers’ tomorrow and there is also many other exciting posts in the pipeline for this week.

    My polar bear.
    My polar bear.

I really hope I get some Lush for Christmas.

Do any of you work in retail? How are you all finding juggling work and Christmas?
