• The Body Shop: Christmas Preview

Wednesday 10th October 2018 for many marked World Mental Health Day, so it seemed only appropriate that The Body Shop down in Brighton, should host a VIP Bloggers Event promoting their latest seasonal ranges for Halloween and Christmas as well as the importance of self care.

Naturally good mental health starts with healthy eating, so it seemed rather fitting that the store should also choose to partner with Leon who offer healthy alternatives to fast food.

The restaurant provided us with some delicious tasters from their vegan food and drinks menu which included their spicy lentil masala,  fruity mango and blueberry pots and refreshing goiji berry and passion fruit juicy waters to wash it all down with.

After sampling some of the delights that Leon had to offer, we were then left to mingle with all the local bloggers and explore the latest products that the store had to offer.

This was shortly followed by a talk about the importance of looking after ourselves, a little overview of how the evening would unfold and a sneak preview of some of their exciting Christmas range which included three new scents as part of their enchanted forest collection – peppermint candycane, vanilla marshmallow and berry bon bon.

I have never been particularly fussed about beauty calendars and would always sway towards the traditional chocolate filled offerings from Cadbury’s. But I have to say Freddie the fox and his chums which include Olivia the owl and Dani the deer could be about to sway me. Prices start from £45 for their standard enchanted version, but I have to say with an array of goodies on offer from coconut body scrub, almond hand cream, strawberry shampoo and vanilla bath bombs to name just a few and a combined total worth up to £85 there really is nothing basic about this little gem.

If you fancy treating yourself or a loved one then make sure you check out their Ultimate calendar for £99 (worth £231) from Freddie the fox who is filed with 25 surprises which are designed to leave you feeling re-energised after all those Christmas parties and endless hours of shopping. In keeping with their mental wellbeing theme, the calendar also comes with a set of daily tasks for you to complete to help you reconnect with nature. What’s more, your empty boxes can be put together to create a picture puzzle which reveals some beautiful creatures roaming in the wilderness.

With hand massages, beauty makeovers, skincare consultations and the option to personalise our very own body butters we were spoilt for choice on how to spend our evening. Sadly, my Sister was unable to attend the event, so I decided to get a body butter made up with her name on as a little thank you for being my wonderful Sister. As a Mum of two she very rarely gets time to pamper herself and just relax, so I knew she would love this idea.

Next I decided to treat myself to their vegan banana body yogurt which smells sooooooo good and I had been eyeing it up since April when I attended another VIP Bloggers event at the Brighton store. I am so glad I decided to get it, as it was an absolute bargain at just £4.50 and I have already used it at work everyday. I find washing my hands and the changing weather has made them really dry, but this vegan banana body yoghurt helps to combat that and every time I get a whiff on the scent I feel like I am transported back to the sunny shores of Alcudia beach in Mallorca.

Of course, I couldn’t leave without having a go at the guess the scent game, where we were blindfolded and had to guess the scent (kind of self explanatory I know). Sadly I didn’t win a prize as I only got one right, but I didn’t walk away empty handed, as the store gave each of us a very generous goody bag which was filled with vouchers from Leon and lots of beauty goodies which I will be sharing with you over on my Instagram and YouTube channel shortly, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for that.

Thank you so much to The Body Shop in Brighton for hosting such a fun-packed evening and to Leon for let us sample your delicious dishes and drinks. Will you be purchasing any of their festive calendars this year?

    Love Emma

Some of the products featured in this post were very kindly gifted to me from The Body Shop and Leon. However, as always all opinions and views remain my own.

Jo Malone English Fields Launch 2018

    * Thank you Katie Kirk for kindly letting me use your images from the event.

Last Saturday was a very exciting day for me, in the morning I went and gave notice for our wedding later this year and in the evening I travelled down to Chichester, where the lovely Katie Kirk and the Jo Malone team had put on a stunning bloggers event, in the local House of Fraser store, as part of the launch for their new limited edition fragrance collection – English Fields.

    Play. Combine. Create.

First, we were encouraged to mingle with the other lovely ladies whilst sipping on grapefruit prosecco, fresh grapefruit juice and delicious tiny morsels such as miniature scones with jam and cream, shortbread and biscuits that were all lovingly prepared and served to us by the incredibly talented Wild Mint Kitchen Café.

    “Quintessentially British”

After catching up with some familiar faces, Peter – the store manager – and the team at the local Chichester store spoke to us about the 5 new fragrances that had been created by Celine Roux and Mathilde Bijaoui as part of the new English Fields collection that had been inspired by fresh florals, cereals and grains from the English countryside.

We were each provided with an opportunity to take in the new scents which included Poppy and Barley, Green Wheat and meadow-sweet, Primrose and Rye, Honey and Crocus and Oat and cornflower.

I instantly fell in love with two of the new scents, first the striking freshness of rich red poppies which was softened with powdery notes of musk. The warmth, cheerfulness and happiness that this scent evoked, instantly made it perfect for a Spring day.

Next was Primrose and Rye which immediately had me drifting off to some exotic beach in the Indonesian ocean. This fragrance is warmed with gold corn, brightened with mimosa and softened with vanilla notes and rye. The best way to describe all of the new scents for me personally is “sunshine in a bottle”.

    “Poppies Dancing In The Wind”

    “Five Captivating Scents”

Peter was such a lovely host and made us ladies feel like VIPs for the evening, topping up our glasses of prosecco and offering us more delicious scones, whilst we all enjoyed a beauty pamper from Bobbi Brown as well as hand and arm massages from the lovely ladies at Jo Malone. What more could you wish for?

Having been a fan of the Wood Sage and Sea Salt cologne for quite some time now, I was eager to try out some new scents and when Lyn, the House of Fraser beauty manager, told me that the Jo Malone collection had been designed so that you can combine more than one fragrance, to help create a scent that reflects your mood and personality, I was excited to try it out for myself!

Despite, sadly losing all of my data on my iPhone (more on that in a separate post) I was left feeling rejuvenated, pampered and eager to get my hands on the new collection. Having met all of the team in Chichester, I will defiantly be travelling back down there for my complimentary bridal consultation and to purchase my very own personalised bridal fragrance – Peony and Blush Suede is already a firm favourite.

After an evening of pampering, delicious food and wonderful company, we were each given our very own gift box, complete with our own personal blog hashtag stickers and ceramic tags which had our initials embossed on. I will confess, I am absolutely terrible at gift wrapping, so it came as no surprise to me when I couldn’t nail the traditional Jo Malone bow. Luckily for me, the lovely team were on hand to help me out.

The new English Fields collection is expected to fly off the shelves fast within the next three weeks. So, if you want to experience the essence of the English landscape, make sure you get your hands on one of these beautiful and captivating scents from £47.00 for 30ml.

Make sure you check out these beautiful ladies who I had the pleasure of meeting at the event:

    Christmas Beauty Essentials

    *Sponsored Post

With the Christmas office party just around the corner and cold Winter night’s, it got me thinking about my beauty essentials for the festive season. So today I thought I would share with you all, what’s on my list of beauty must have’s.

    1. STRUCTURE Smoothshock

At the top of my list has to be this luxurious foam packed full of Abyssinian oil, which not only smells incredible, but also leaves my hair super soft and conditioned. I love using this when I am styling my hair, as it ensures my hair isn’t left feeling dry.

    2. Festive Nail Polish

Red, berry, glitter or perhaps some festive nail art in the form of Santa, Rudolph or Frosty the snowman.

    3. Signature Scent

This year my go to scent’s have included ‘Wood Sage and Sea Salt’ by Jo Malone, ‘Touch of Pink’ by Lacoste and ‘Si’ by Giorgio Aramani.

    4. Naked Heat Eye Palette

This may be a palette for Summer, but I have loved using the brighter tones, to help create a warmer look for the colder season.

    5. Meltdown Make-up remover

It is probably the last thing you feel like doing after a night out, but taking care of your skin is incredibly important, as it helps prevent ageing and provides the perfect foundation to your look.

    6. All Nighter setting spray

Don’t forget some setting spray to make sure your make-up stays put after evening on the dance floor.

    7. XO Balm

This multi-purpose product has you covered when it comes to dry cracked hands and chapped lips.

    8. Sparkle

No Christmas outfit would be complete without a bit of added sparkle, this can be jewellery, a sequined top or perhaps a new clutch to hold all of your beauty essentials in.

I hope you all have a wonderful week.

What’s on your list this year for your Christmas beauty essentials?

    Just For Blondes – Joico

Glorious Summer days filled with sunshine and freshly cut grass often mean that your calendar is jam-packed with weddings, festivals, birthday parties and christenings or sun soaked holidays in the Mediterranean. Whilst this can be a very exciting season, it does also mean that your hair is often neglected and left forgotten about.  Factor in a pre-holiday session at the salon and your hair can be left feeling tired and dry prior to you even jetting off, to those Pina coladas and days sunning yourself by the poolside.

Whether you are a natural blonde like me or you are a bleached blonde and you want to invest in some stunning hair products, that deliver salon worthy results instantly, then make sure you don’t leave without these three hair essentials.

    Blonde Life Brightening Shampoo

After falling in love with this simple but gorgeous packaging, I thought I would be left disappointed with the contents. But the first thing I actually noticed was how thick and rich the shampoo was, the consistency was just right and meant that I didn’t need to use a lot despite having fairly long thick hair.

    Blonde Life Brightening Conditioner

After soaking in the tub for a few minutes, I rinsed and lathered my hair as instructed and then massaged this bio advanced peptide complex in – apparently that means it reconstructs damaged strands and targets hair that has probably seen better days. Of course if you are going to be Blonde then you want to have gorgeous, luscious locks and that is where Joico’s blend of exotic ingredients come in to ensure you are left with a gorgeous shine that is guaranteed to turn heads.

    Blonde Life Brightening Masque

This masque made my hair feel incredible and this little extra treatment also felt like the perfect way to round off these three rather luxurious hair care products. Overall I was pleasantly surprised with Joico’s new range and I think I may just have to enjoy a nice candlelit bath later – any excuse to indulge myself again.

They say Blondes have more fun which may be true, but that doesn’t mean that your crowning glory need suffer. After all, us Blondes deserve nothing but the best when it comes to hair care.
