Festive Afternoon Tea at Wyevale

I have always loved Christmas, but this year I am more excited than Buddy the Elf and have found myself eagerly admiring festive displays up in London, putting the tree up on November 24th and searching for inspiration on Pinterest on how to decorate my desk at work. It would seem I have gone crazy for Christmas!

So, when I was invited to enjoy a festive afternoon tea at my local Wyevale garden centre in Crawley, I didn’t hesitate to accept. After all, what wasn’t to like with a glass of bubbly, delicious food and a cheeky little look around the Christmas shop, oh and maybe go visit the main man himself – Father Christmas. 

After drooling over the delicious looking cakes at the counter, which included a wide selection of festive treats such as snowy rocky road, bakewell tarts, gingerbread men and St Clements sponge cakes, we were greeted by the lovely Helen and seated at a rather festive table which had been lovingly prepared in preparation for our arrival.

First we were offered a choice of teas or coffees and a glass of prosecco each. This was promptly followed by two towers of delicious morsels which included the following:

• St Clements cake
• Blackberry pavlova
• Mini macarons
• Festive iced fruit cake 
• Cranberry & cinnamon scones
• Clotted creams and jams
• Somerset brie, cranberry & spinach on white farmhouse bread
• Turkey, sage & onion stuffing with mayonnaise on malted seeded farmhouse bread

Whilst the sandwiches went down well with my Husband and Mum, I personally loved the cranberry and cinnamon scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. The mini macaroons were also another firm favourite of mine, as they were so light and full of flavour. Of course the St Clements sponge cakes won the most votes from our party of four.

One thing that we all agreed on was what excellent value for money this tea was. My parents are already looking at going back again for another festive tea before Christmas. As for me and Al, we were so full that we didn’t stop off for food on our four hour trip up to Wales. It was a lovely way to kick start our weekend and I highly recommend this tea for old and young alike. They also have a soft play area nearby and parents can enjoy complimentary re-fills of coffee whilst keeping an eye on the little ones.

Once we had re-charged our batteries, we all decided to have a wander around the store which had a fantastic selection of gifts, Christmas decorations, Christmas trees, food and drink, clothes, a Pets Corner and much more.  

Al and I even did a spot of Christmas shopping and found some gifts for our secret Santas at work. My only regret is that I haven’t visited this store before as I wasn’t aware we had a Wyevale near by, but I will definitely be going back for some more Christmas shopping.
