• Sundays at Rosebourne – Aldermaston

A Sunday well spent brings a week of content and this was definitely the case for me and my husband Al, whom I spent last weekend strolling around the new Rosebourne Garden centre in Aldermaston with.

When an email dropped into my Inbox inviting me to a Bloggers sneak peak, my heart instantly sunk as I realised I would be out of the country and unable to attend. But this didn’t stop me from dragging my husband along the following weekend for the store’s grand opening which saw Strictly’s very own Craig Revel Hornwood cut the ribbon to mark the occasion.

Nothing could prepare either of us for the huge array of fresh local fruit and veg, cheeses, meats and breads as we first entered the store. This was quickly followed by magical Christmas displays with scenes of winter wonderlands and gifts for every possible recipient and occasion.

Walking around garden centres has been a favourite pastime of mine for as long as I can remember, but Rosebourne was something else. After spending what felt like minutes looking around the store (it was actually half a day) we ventured outside into the sunshine where I was automatically drawn to the stunning elephant water feature, then it was onto metal sculptures of horses, colourful flowerpots, palm trees, a wide selection of flowers, garden ornaments, wind chimes and much more.

Naturally, we had worked up quite an appetite, so when Al suggested Afternoon Tea for two, well I could hardly argue could I? The restaurant provided the perfect backdrop with the sun beaming in through the glass roof and palms surrounding us. Despite being rushed off their feet, the staff worked tirelessly throughout and delivered some delicious morsels which included a selection of crustless sandwiches with fillings of goats cheese and roasted red pepper, freshly baked Rosebourne mini fruit scones served with clotted cream and strawberry jam, two shots of chocolate and raspberry trifles, plum bakewell wedges, two mini apricot and raspberry hazelnut pavlovas all served on a black granite slate and washed down with English Breakfast tea and a glass of Prosecco. For £23 (excluding the Prosecco) it was a very generous spread that left us both feeling a tad full. So there was only one thing for it – we decided to walk around the store one last time before driving 50 miles home.

I am so glad we both visited Rosebourne, it was such a lovely relaxing Sunday and I can’t wait to go back. It will definitely be on the top of my list of places to shop at for Christmas gifts.

Have you visited the new Rosebourne store in Aldermaston yet?

    Bedroom|Storage Solutions

My bedroom has been lacking that cosy, relaxing retreat vibe for quite some time now and with so many affordable rose gold, fluffy throws and marble inspired pieces in Primark lately, not to mention some smart storage solutions for my shoes, jewellery and clothes at Ikea I was beginning to realise that a little lick of paint just wasn’t going to cut it.

So if you are looking for some easy solutions to help you maximise your storage space and help you de-clutter your room and create that haven you have lusted over on Pinterest on a shoestring budget. Then read on!

First up is your wardrobe, I personally find that I like to put my clothing in order of colour, but you may prefer to organise your garments into sections such as jeans, tops, dresses etc This is something that you can do without spending a penny.

Next I decided to purchase some smart storage solutions for my shoes from Ikea to help me utilise the space on my top shelf more effectively.

As for my drawers I have used storage cubes, again from Ikea to help me keep my garments clean and fresh and also to make locating a particular piece of clothing such as lingerie much more easier when on the go. I really love these as they also maximise the space more effectively.

Next I tried to use my bookshelf to create a focal point that reflects my personality without looking messy. Notice the two storage baskets on the lower shelf, which are used to store beauty and bath products in as well. You can pick these up from Primark, another little gem.

Last but not least is another storage solution from Ikea which is designed to keep your jewellery organised in your dressing table drawers. Unfortunately, my drawers are too small to hold this in, but this has proved incredibly useful for grabbing things on the go and currently sits on my dresser.
