• 10 Happy Things Tag

With October 10th 2017 marking World Mental Health Day, I thought it was about time that I got round to a well overdue tag post that the lovely Loren from @lorenxalicia had nominated me for back in August! Wow! Time sure does fly once you hit the age of 25 that’s for sure. Sorry about the delay Loren and thank you for the tag. Please do check out her blog guys for some fashion inspo featuring lots of lovely Autumnal trends including my personal favourite chunky knits.

Now, the tag in case you are all still wondering is ’10 Happy Things’. I really enjoyed writing this post and as this last month has been a particularly tough one for me, this has provided me with an ideal opportunity to focus on the things that matter to me.

So here are my top 10 things that make me happy (in no particular order).

    1. Autumn 🍂

Colourful crisp leaves, cosy fires, chunky knits and over the knee boots are just a few of my favourite things about Autumn.

    2. Christmas 🎄

Magical Christmas displays at my local garden centre have already got me in the festive mood. Pinterest has also provided me with some unique gift ideas that I can’t wait to make or bake. The main reason I love Christmas is that it provides the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time with my loved ones and also reminds me of how lucky I am to just have the basic things in life such as food, hot water and a home to live in.

    3. Planning our wedding 👰

With just over 10 months until our big day, me and Al are finally ticking off all those major wedding tasks and November will be very special as my dress will be arriving – I can’t wait to go and try it on again!

    4. Travelling ✈️

I particularly love Mallorca as it is were some of my special friends live and it is an opportunity for me to catch up with them, but I also love travelling to places that I have not been to before so I can discover and learn new things. I can’t wait to book our honeymoon.

    5. Food and Drink 🍹

Indian, Italian, Spanish Tapas and cocktails ahhhhh…

    6.  Family, Friends and my Fiancé 💖

These are the people who make my life special and who I owe so much to. I am very excited about marrying Al next year and I can’t wait to start our new chapter together as his Wife.

    7. Blogging and the online community 💻

I can’t believe I started out on this incredible journey over a year ago now and feel very fortunate to have met so many amazing people who have enriched my life. Blogging has also given me some amazing experiences that I wouldn’t have encountered had I not taken the leap of faith back in 2016.

    8. Mr Toblerone, Toby Bear – Toby my Westie

This little fella who is sat by my feet right now, has given me so many happy memories already and I hope he continues to bless me with his presence and his endless barks in the garden. From walks in the country to his cheeky antics I owe so much to ‘Mr Toblerone’ as he is more than just a dog, he is my little sidekick who always gives me a much-needed lick and hug when ever I’m sad.

    9.  Music

Perhaps it is because I have hearing loss that music is something that I don’t just enjoy, but I honestly believe life would be bland without it. Can you imagine watching a film without a backing soundtrack to help convey unspoken emotions? I particularly love discovering new talent and listening to buskers whilst I walk up and down the high-street. Oh and my favourite feel good song has to be ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams of course.

    10.  Exciting Opportunities

This really ties in with blogging but as my career has also played a key part in this I thought it deserved a mention on its own. Blogging has given me so much confidence and has meant that I have fulfilled some of my personal business goals in life, but to me blogging has also given me things that money can’t buy – like connecting with like-minded people and becoming recognised for being unique. My career has also provided me with many opportunities to travel and explore new countries and I hope as I continue to grow that my work life will provide an environment that nurtures me and delivers endless opportunities for me to expand my knowledge, skills and life experiences.

I hope you have enjoyed finding out all about my top 10 happy things as much as I have writing them. Did you know that the NHS actually recommends doing something you enjoy to help create a sense of achievement, which is good for our overall mental health and wellbeing?

With 21 of you over on my Twitter saying that you have suffered with panic attacks, anxiety or depression at some point in your lives, it is clear that mental health is sadly becoming the norm and not the exception. On a more positive note you have all taken action to help address these issues either via CBT therapy, counselling, medication or hypnotherapy.

Perhaps we would all benefit from organising more enjoyable things to participate in, to help us reduce stress levels and boost our self-esteem. After sharing my own experiences with some of you lovely ladies over on Twitter, I think what I have taken away from this whole experience is that everybody is different and therefore we all need to find what works for us as individuals.
